About Me:

Chris Fryefield is an interdisciplinary academic, working on climate change policy as a PhD candidate at Oregon State University in the Environmental Sciences Graduate Program. She has a law degree and master's in conservation biology from the University of Michigan, and previously worked as an environmental attorney for the land conservation community.

Her research focuses on climate change adaptation and mitigation projects for private lands conservation. Chris has expertise in tax policy and other financial incentives for private lands conservation, and understands the particular needs of the Pacific Northwest landowner community. Chris is available to give presentations to land trusts, landowners, and related professionals like attorneys and property appraisers on how to address climate impacts on private lands in the Pacific Northwest.

Chris also serves as a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) for the Department of Integrative Biology at OSU, and has taught BI22XZ - Principles of Biology for the past five years. After teaching the Honors laboratory course, Chris is currently serving as one of two mentor TAs, supporting her fellow GTAs and helping them excel in their work. She is passionate about teaching, and is seeking further opportunities as a professor or instructor in higher education. A sample of course materials from her biology lab at OSU and from a proposed future course in Climate Change Policy are included under "Courses".
