Spring field work at Oak Creek, 2023
This syllabus was designed for the Honors laboratory section of BI 221, taught in-person in Fall of 2023. Assignments balance weekly lab investigations into key principles of microbiology and biochemistry with a term-long Course-Based Undergraduate Research Project (CURE) on nematodes. Syllabus by Dr. Lori Kayes and Dr. Carmen Harjoe, with edits and updates by Chris Fryefield.

The following video, from "The Ameoeba Sisters" on YouTube, is a good example of content suitable for in-person, hybrid, or online education in biology. These funny and approachable animated videos provide a good introduction to gel electrophoresis - a key technique used for the nematode CURE project.
Posters created by Bryan Lynn, Jazlee Crowley, and Chris Fryefield designed to provide an overview of the fall term biology course. We designed these to hang in the hallway outside of our laboratory classrooms so that current and prospective students could get an idea of what the course includes, and what they would learn while taking it.
